We are pleased to be able to offer a NEW class as part of our Dog School Series. AKC's Puppy S.T.A.R. Class is designed for puppies under one year of age (we are recommending it to puppies 6 months and under, especially those with new pet parents!).

We have had many questions about what the class entails, so we wanted to post this easy to understand course guide, adapted from the AKC website:

What it stands for:

S ocialization

T raining

A ctivity

R esponsibility

What will the course cover?

Owners will be educated on maintaining puppy health, providing adequate daily play and exercise, and on the committment to being a Responsible Dog Owner. Owners will be attending at least 6 classes with their puppy (we WANT pups there on the first night).

Puppies should learn during the class to be free of aggression towards people and other puppies during class, to tolerate a collar or harness, to allow hugs or being held and to allow an owner to take away a treat or a toy.

Puppies will be tested at the end of the 6 week course on a variety of criteria practiced in class including things like allowing petting from a stranger, being handled on all parts of their bodies, walk on a leash (at least a little), perform sit and down and to come when called by name.

Is Puppy S.T.A.R. right for your pup? Call today 208-238-7387 to find out.

Have you recently been put on our waitlist for one or more services? Are you hoping to get on the standing daycare appointment list so your pet can come every week? Well we are excited to announce that very soon our second location will be opening and our wait list troubles will be over!

Expected to open late July 2017, our second location will be at 143 South 2nd Avenue. That’s right, just 1 block west of us! What will we have in store for our clients at Pocatello Pet Lodge, Too?

Most immediately we will be opening 37 new spaces for our little and senior guests. Dogs under 35 pounds, or those dogs that are “little” in spirit will be welcomed at our new facility. Further, dogs over 12 years old, or those with “old souls” will also call Pocatello Pet Lodge, Too their new home away from home!

We will also be moving our full-service grooming salon to the new spot! Haircuts, whether by appointment for occurring over a boarding or daycare visit, will be done at the new location. We are expanding this department and hope to eventually have 2 experienced groomers working almost every day.

By opening day, our exotic and small animal boarding will also move to their expanded quarters and call 143 S 2nd home.

What will stay at the 3rd Avenue location? Our large and most active guests will continue to come for boarding, daycare and bathing services. With all the new room at 143, we should be able to accommodate many more large dogs at the 145 location. We will even be adding an additional VIP suite! Moreover, we are designing Deluxe Suites with the most refined canine guests in mind, and hope to have those open by early Fall 2017.

Our feline guests will continue to take their vacations at the 145 S 3rd Avenue location, for now. Future plans entail moving (and expanding!) cat rooms to 143, but the opening date on those spaces will be announced at a later time.

Our pricing rates, operating hours, play time routines and even most of our staffing will remain the same from location to location. We simply want to be able to offer more services to more clients!

We will continue to provide the same level of comprehensive, quality care to Pocatello’s pet parents—whenever you need us! We will even have room to expand if the demand for such care continues to increase! We look forward to serving you at both locations and thank you for helping us to grow our business to this next level.

"The LTC’s Hill want to express our deepest appreciation for taking care of our Furry Kid, Anni, who does suffer from separation anxiety, but your staff were able to work your combined magic to enable Anni to explore a fun new doggie day care and meet some new doggie friends. She also received a wonderful spa treatment, coming back to us squeaky clean, with a fresh manicure and a cute and very fashionable bandana. We would Definitely RECOMMEND this place to others, who may be not only in the local area but also for those who are on travel status to Pocatello. This is a FIVE STAR Plus Facility. Congratulations on a Job Well Done. We will be back next time we travel in support of Idaho State University as former Alumina. Respectfully, Laura, Bart and Anni Hill."

We are proud to offer, for the first time at PPL Dog School Introduction to Agility. If you've never tried agility but have always wanted to, this class is for you!

Dogs and handlers will learn basic agility commands and practices including equipment work on tunnels, jumps, a dog walk and A-frames. Experienced instructors will work with you and your pet in a non-competitive environment learning the basics. It’s a perfect way to get to know agility.

Please call us today at 237-PETS (7387) to reserve your spot in class. In order to provide lots of equipment time and practice we are limiting the number of participants—spaces will fill quickly!

Healthy Pet Care Warranty

Pocatello Pet Lodge’s Healthy Pet Care Warranty offers you peace of mind while your pets visit our facility. Our standard practices are to keep everything clean, monitor dogs closely during play, pay close attention to feeding instructions, and do our very best to keep everyone happy and healthy. However, through the day-to-day operation of our boarding, daycare and grooming facility, pets may be exposed to contagious illness, or they may be subject to injury through routine play. Although no negligence by the staff of our facility would be involved under these circumstances, we realize that the pet owner has a reasonable right to not incur additional and unexpected expenses for an illness or injury that occurred while the care of their pet was entrusted to others. To address this, Pocatello Pet Lodge has established a Healthy Pet Care Warranty.

This program defines the level of financial liability we will assume for pets that become ill or are injured while visiting our facility. This warranty will generally cover the most common gastrointestinal, respiratory, dermatological and other illnesses and injuries that could occur – with the aim of offering you peace of mind while your pet stays with us. Enrollment in this warranty is mandatory.

Terms and Conditions

Subject to the exclusions listed below, Pocatello Pet Lodge will be financially responsible for any veterinary care (office call, testing, and/or in-hospital treatments) provided by the owner’s preferred or our emergency services veterinarian associated with any illness or injury incurred while the pet is boarding at Pocatello Pet Lodge, up to the maximum of $300.

• Maximum payment of $300 in medical expenses per pet/per incident. The pet owner shall remain responsible for all charges exceeding the maximum coverage amount.

• Only medical care provided by a licensed veterinarian will be covered

• Proof of expenses will be required.

• This coverage is the pet owner’s exclusive remedy in the event of any claims for illness, injury, or medical care for a pet.

Expiration of Coverage

• 24 hours from departure from Pocatello Pet Lodge for non-contagious illness or injuries

• Three days after pet is discharged for contagious disease

• $1 per night/per pet (maximum $10) for our boarding animals

• Daycare pets, although not charged the per visit fee, will also be covered by the warranty.

The Healthy Pet Care Warranty excludes coverage of the following:

• Pre-existing health/medical conditions

• Symptoms or illness that recur each time your pet boards with us (such as chronic diarrhea from stress, hoarseness/cough from excessive barking, etc)

• Injury or illness occurring between family pets housed together

• Illness occurring after clients have been made aware of an outbreak of illness in our facility and choose to use our services anyway

• Injury or illness occurring in pets that left our campus during their reservation (field trips, vet visits, etc, during which a Pet Lodge employee was not present).

Pocatello Pet Lodge retains the right to exclude pets from the Healthy Pet Care Warranty based on age or any other existing pet health concerns identified upon admittance to our facility. We also retain the right to request medical history on any pet to verify that there are no preexisting conditions prior to paying for medical treatment under this Warranty.
